Virtual meeting details:
Please plan to attend the September 10th Planning and Zoning meeting at the Avon Middle School cafeteria. The commission will be VOTING on the proposed zone change to Blue Fox Run. This is very important! Please show the commission how important denying this zone change is by filling the room.
This will likely be the last Planning and Zoning hearing on this zone change. The public will be able to speak and both sides’ attorneys will have their last rebuttals.
The support at the last 2 meetings has been great, please plan to attend this one as well.
The Planning and Zoning Commission will continue the hearing on the proposed Blue Fox Run zone change on July 9th at 7pm. You may still write letters to the commission and if you wish to speak at the hearing you will be allowed to.
Please plan to attend the June 25th Planning and Zoning meeting, as the Blue Fox development will be on the agenda. The developer has applied for a zone change to the land and this meeting is the first time that will be discussed. 7pm at Avon Middle School.
Join us June 23rd at 2pm for a very special and unique event! Chrissie and John D’Esopo of Avon, owners of the locally famous “flower house” at 289 West Avon Rd, will be hosting tours of their home and gardens in support of Save Nod Road. There will be live music by The Connecticut Doctors’ Orchestra, featuring Lisabeth Miller, soloist, as well as complimentary refreshments. Admission for adults is $20, children are free. Parking will be at St. Ann Church.
Save Nod Road recently “adopted” Nod Road on the Avon side so we are hosting our first cleanup event on May 11th. Help keep Nod Road looking beautiful on both sides by joining us as we pick up trash along the road.
Our friends at Dom’s Coffee are also hosting a community cleanup event called Refresh Avon that will meet at Dom’s at noon and then spread out to roads/parks around Avon to pick up trash. SNR will be cleaning up along Nod Road att 11 and then will join the Dom’s event at noon. Hope to see you at one or both events!
Help support Save Nod Road by eating in or taking out from Panera Bread at the Canton location April 17th from 4pm-8pm. If paying in person you must show this flyer (paper or digital) to the cashier or if ordering online you must enter PRFUND in the promo code. Hope to see you there!
Please come to the Avon Inland Wetlands Commission meeting on Tuesday April 2nd at 7pm at the fire house on Darling drive. The commission will be voting on whether or not to approve the wetlands amendment. requested by the developer. Win or lose, this vote is just one of many steps in this process, but it is important to show the town how much we care about preserving this land and the wetlands on it.
The public hearing on the proposed amendment to the wetlands map continues.
The public hearing on the proposed changes to wetlands (as proposed by the developer and Blue Fox land owners) continues at the Avon Senior Center on February 5th at 7pm. For information on what happened at the last meeting (and what exactly is being proposed) please read this Valley Press article.
Join us at E & D Pizza Company on January 16th for our next fundraiser! A portion of dine in and take out orders will be donated to Save Nod Road when you mention this fundraiser. Members of the board will be there to answer your questions. Please support us while enjoying the best pizza in Avon!
Please come to the Inland Wetlands Commission meeting on January 8th at the Avon Senior Center to support SNR and the environment as we oppose changes to the wetlands map that the developer wants to make. It is important that the commission sees how many people oppose making this potentially harmful alteration to the environment that is purely in the best interest of the developer.
Join us on Election day for a fundraiser at Flatbread Company in the Shoppes at Farmington Valley in Canton from 5pm-9pm. A percentage of your order will go to Save Nod Road, so please tell your friends and we’ll see you there!
Celebrate Avon was canceled due to wet fields, but members of Nod Road Preservation, Inc. will be set up under a tent at The Pickin’ Patch selling merchandise and answering questions. Stop by and visit between noon and 5!
Regular Planning & Zoning Commission meeting. Blue Fox development NOT on agenda.
